A Friendly Cat MURDER

Welcome to a Friendly Cat MURDER. Famous entrepreneur Mr. Mistoffelees has been murdered in his study on a midday afternoon. It's up to you to scavenge his house for clues to his murder and deduce his killer before they get away. 

This project was a great exploration into designing spaces in VR/XR. The Low Poly style really limited what I was able to do and allowed me to play around with a lot of new techniques like shaders and lighting. I also managed to both come up with a pretty intricate plot while encouraging the player to naturally find out about elements and deduce them without giving too much away. 

I do wish I had delved deeper into more technical and intricate interactions, allowing for more puzzles or games than just straight deduction. I had a lot of trouble developing a padlock system for a puzzle I was planning on implementing. There's still remnants of what that puzzle was left up on the walls. 

I learned a lot about not only ideating and creating a demo version of your game, but more importantly how both exhausting and rewarding constantly iterating on your version. It definitely was a pain waiting for my scene to build every single time I wanted to see a lighting or graphic fix but it was definitely worth it in the end.

In the future, I would love to seriously add in more puzzles, codes, and possibly secret rooms that could expand the household. I imagine playing around with that bookshelf opening into another environment which tells you more about Mr. Mistoffelees would've been extremely rewarding.
